Baked Chicken Wings

In 1964, at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo New York, the co-owner cooked some left-over chicken wings in hot sauce as a late-night snack and the first order of Buffalo chicken wings was born. Blue cheese dressing, celery and carrot sticks are often served with chicken wings as they are usually made spicy so the cool blue cheese dressing helps with the heat and eating crunchy bland celery and carrot sticks helps clear your palate so you can enjoy the full flavor of the next bite of chicken wings.

This recipe takes a twist on traditional chicken wings as these are baked and have a more garlicky flavor and get their kick from chili powder. Enjoy!

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (pressed)
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 10 chicken wings

  1. Preheat oven to 360 degrees. Combine olive oil, garlic, chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a large plastic bag. Seal bag and shake to combine ingredients together.
  2. Open bag and add chicken wings, seal bag and shake to coat chicken wings. Take chicken wings out of the bag and arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Cook in preheated oven for 1 hour or until cooked through and brown. Serve with blue cheese dressing, celery and carrot sticks or honey mustard dressing.
