Thanksgiving Do

Hosting a Thanksgiving meal for the entire family is a lot of work and can be extremely stressful. The person hosting oftentimes runs themselves ragged, causing them to miss out on memorable moments. At the same time, the host/hostess of Thanksgiving probably loves to entertain and have the family gather in their home.

In this blog, we'll discuss the Do's and Dont's when hosting Thanksgiving to help you take a deep breath... and enjoy Thanksgiving with the rest of your family!

Don't turn down help if offered. If someone asks if they can bring something, have them bring a side item or wine so you can check it off of your list.

Do give yourself plenty of time. Make a list of things you need well in advance and purchase them ahead of time (if possible).

Don't stress over the little mistakes. No one will remember if you forgot to use the fancy pitcher of water or only had two desserts instead of three. Everything will be wonderful and delicious!

Do set a simple table. We know you want Thanksgiving to be perfect, but micromanaging insignificant decor details will only stress you out while creating a larger cleanup.

Don't forget family favorites, but select a new dish for everyone to try. Replacing a family favorite could spell disaster, but adding a dessert or side item you think the family would like could be the highlight of the meal.

Do as much as you can in advance. Trying to make everything at once can be overwhelming. But making one thing then freezing it is much less stressful and will make the preparation process much easier.

Don't spend all of your time in the kitchen. This is a time to spend with family and friends.

Do take allergies into account. Don't go overboard, but it's nice to have a gluten-free option if needed.
